Shop America Alliance LLC (SAA), the travel trade organization whose mission is to promote Shopping, Dining and Cultural Tourism as the top travel activities, has announced several new marketing initiatives for 2012-2013. Representing hundreds of the top shopping centers, outlets, retailers, museum stores, cultural attractions and destinations in the USA, Shop America Alliance and its affiliate organization, the US Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council (USCHT), are leaders in the travel industry. They will participate at US Travel Association’s International Pow Wow in Los Angeles, April 21-25, 2012, in triple booth #949 and at the Pow Wow Media Marketplace. Booth share partners in the Shop America Alliance booth at Pow Wow 2012 include Shop Las Vegas, Citadel Outlets, Woodburn Company Stores, Craig Outlet Centers, Carousel Center/Destiny USA, Outlet Marketing Alliance, Assembly Row, U.S. Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council and TheTourOperator.com. Highlights of new Shop America Alliance/USCHT Marketing Council programs include: 1. “Meet, SHOP & Win!”, a fun new Shop America Pow Wow promotion. Visit booth 949 to view and win thousands of dollars in designer merchandise, apparel and accessories to be given to tour operators and travel media attending Pow Wow. To enter to win one of these exciting gifts, tour operators and travel media first meet with a participating Shop America member at Pow Wow, then drop off their “Meet, SHOP & Win!” entry ticket at booth 949. Drawings will be held daily and lucky winners will be notified via email or text, with photos of winners on Facebook. 2. The Shop America Tours Club, an innovative new consumer loyalty program, will preview at Pow Wow. Shop America Alliance President Rosemary McCormick says, “The club will offer a one-stop resource to reward and delight shoppers and travelers with discounts, deals, gifts, experiences, information, ideas and incentives. We are inviting consumers worldwide who enjoy shopping and travel to join and reap the many benefits that FREE membership in this new club offers. Tour operators can earn commissions through The Shop America Tours Club Red Carpet program.” 3. NEW USA Outlet Shopping Festival Planned for May 24-27, 2013! Shop America Alliance and the Outlet Marketing Alliance will preview plans at Pow Wow for an exciting new national/international Outlet Shopping Festival to be held each May beginning in 2013, during Memorial Day weekend, at major outlet centers throughout the USA. Based on successful international events including the Dubai Shopping Festival, the USA Outlet Shopping Festival will be the first national shopping festival inviting tourists from throughout the USA and the world to enjoy special discounts from major retail brands and fun events. Tour operators and travel partners including online travel agents, hotels, transportation providers and more will be invited to develop packages and promotions around this very special annual festival. Tax Free Shopping opportunities will also be highlighted for even greater savings. NEW Marketing Cultural & Heritage Tourism Book, written by the President of Shop America Alliance, Rosemary McCormick was recently published by the Museum Store Association and is being sold by American Association of Museums. This is an in-depth book on the many facets of marketing to the cultural and heritage tourist. The book is a “must read” for everyone interested in building their tourism business. ONE Travel Conference for Shopping, Dining and Cultural-Heritage Tourism was held in Orlando, Florida, January 15-17, 2012 in partnership with American Express, Visit Orlando and Visit Florida. Thought leaders in the travel industry came together to learn and network during this successful three day conference. The 2013 ONE Travel Conference is being planned for February in Costa Mesa, California in partnership with the renowned South Coast Plaza. Shop America Alliance and the US Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council produce the conference annually. 7. SASI-ONE Award Winners Honored at Annual ONE Travel Conference for Shopping, Dining & Cultural Tourism. A total of 22 SASI-ONE Awards (SASI = Shop America Salutes Innovation) for shopping and cultural tourism marketing excellence were presented at the SASI-ONE Awards Breakfast Tuesday, January 17, 2012 during the ONE Travel Conference at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek in Orlando, Florida. The awards are sponsored by CenterCal Properties in partnership with Shop America Alliance and the U.S. Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council. The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Shop America Alliance (SAA) presented the first in their joint series of Shop The World Tourism Conferences in October 2011. The inaugural conference, held in Toronto, highlighted valuable opportunities for Canadian retailers to attract domestic and international tourists. Educational sessions focused on proven strategies to generate tourism business through partnerships, social media, and group incentives. Those in attendance included retail and shopping center developers, owners, leasing specialists, marketing and management professionals, travel and tourism leaders, destination marketers, credit card companies, publications, and travel partners. Shop The World Tourism Conferences are planned throughout the world including Toronto in October 2012. 9. The Cultural Traveler Guide 2012. Shop America Alliance (SAA), The Museum Store Association (MSA), and US Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council (USCHT) announce the publication of The Cultural Traveler 2012 guidebook with enhanced editorial content and distribution. The 2012 fourth edition of the attractive, full color guide to cultural and heritage travel and museum store shopping features editorial spotlighting trends and the “Travel Planner” section.
